double click cell to show formula references

I often double click on cells to show the formula references highlighted with
different border colors. I occasionally have to use a certain computer that
has this option alterered. On this computer when I double click a formula,
it selects all the cell references, rather than highlighting them with the
colored borders. Does anyone know how to change this back? It is maddening!

Double-click behavior is determined by the "Edit directly in cell" setting
under Tools, Options, Edit.
