video segments repeating in powerpoint

I have an IBM T40 and Windows XP / powerpoint 2003.

I insert several segments or chapters from a DVD into a
ppt presentation. When the video segment finishes, the top
menu of the dvd comes up on the screen. I forward through
my slides and when I come to the next video segment, it
will repeat the previous chapter already played.
The only way I have found to get around this is to forward
to the next slide BEFORE the video is complete which is
not a very good solution.
I had no problem with my previous notebook and windows
2000.

Powerpoint contains no inbuilt ability to play dvds directly
You are most likely using some activex object to do this?
If it is that important, rip the dvd to a mpg and split it into the chapters
you want, then you dont even need the dvd.
