video problems

i have an ati radeon 9550 256mb, i get distorting vertical lines when playing
mpegs and live straeming tv, avis and wmas okay though?!?!?!?

Do you have the latest drivers from ATI, and the latest DirectX?

i would also look at the codecs you have installed, you could search google
for nemo (or nimo) codec pack also xvid codecs,
