Information:

I have used video clips in powerpoint presentations for a
long time. Recently, the powerpoint program would freeze
requiring a program restart whenever a video clip was
started. The remedy was to delete Service Pack II that I
had recently downloaded from Windows update.

Has anynoe else experianced this problem?

Robert

Thanks for the tip but I have been all over that page and
nothing on it worked - only restoring my computer back to
before I downloaded Service Pack II has allowed me to run
video clips without PowerPoint freezing up.

I haven't installed SP-2 for Windows XP, Robert, so I haven't experienced
this.

I'll keep an eye out here for any more reports of this same issue, and if I
see more, I'll add that to the troubleshooting list.

Thanks for posting about your experience with WinXP SP2.

I have exactly this problem dating from when I installed XP SP2. I have many
presentations which are unusable via this computer. They still run of course
on my W2K machine.
This looks like a serious problem but error reporting to MS yields no
response.

its most likely winxp sp2 renders some crappy 3rd party codecs obsolete

what kind of movies are they..
mpg? avi?
