Video Problem

Recetly my video display keeps going out. It seems like the pc stops sending
out a signal to the monitor. I switched out the monitor to make sure that
was not the problem. Could it be that my video card is failing? Or could
some setting have been screwed up to cause this problem?

My resolution is set at 1024x768 This is the lowest I can go with my
monitor. I double checked all the physical connections and the jack and pins
seem fine. The monitor never loses power it just goes black and flashes "no
signal". This seems to be happening every 2 or 3 hours but some times can go
as long as 5 hours.Sometimes I have to reboot a few times before I see
anything on the monitor.

Usually a flashing light from the monitor means just that "no signal" .Make
sure youre connections are ok,you might also reset the monitor,to do that,
power off, unplug for awhile.Try another video card....You can always return
them..

I removed the video card then put it back in then reinstalled the drivers.
It's been almost 2 days and it didn't go out on me so I think that did the
trick.

well all was well for almost 3 weeks but now it's doing the same thing
again. The only thing new is that when I finally get it to reboot I get a
msg "windows has recovered from a serious error"

I'm still open to any suggestions anyone many have.

Thanks

Now I'm starting to think it's something with the OS because when the
display goes black and I wait about 10 minutes it will reboot automatically.
I just assumed that everything was running fine in the background but I just
couldn't see it and the pc was still powered up. well who knows what the
deal it. I'm very frustrated at this point.

Are you running so game or have you tried to view a high def
video file with a resolution not supported by your card?

Doesn't sound like software. Uninstall the video card and swap it out
for a known-working one. If that solves the issue, discard the original
one.
