'Video only' insert editing

I want to lay video only on existing audio/video tracks. I also want to
insert video only still pix on existing video/audio.
Without rendering twice, how do I do it?

Also...I would like to extend video only clips, over an audio track without
cutting the audio track as well, sometimes by a few frames, but also longer.

In brief, I would like to have flexibility to 'checkerboard' my video and
audio tracks, as well as insert editing video only on existing audio tracks.
Can someone help? (I am using WMM 2.1, the latest?)

Hi Tony,

You do have that 2nd audio track (after you split your video into video and
audio) that you can use to just add audio over video but Movie Maker doesn't
seem to have a second video track where you can insert video/pictures over
existing video. I have a recent post asking that same question.

That is the only main problem that I have with the program.
I have just bought Premiere Elements 3, and my learning curve is climbing,
but it can do what I want and more. Strongly recommend this for anyone that
wants more out of their editing...a very user friendly 'professional' program.
It seems to have many of the features of Avid; I have sat behind editors
using Avid for years.
