Video Locks Up

I replaced an ATI 9800 Pro with a BFG Geforce 6800 GT OC. At 1024X768 @ 100
Hz with Image Setting at Quality, AA @ 4X and Anisotropic Filtering @ 16X or
8 X the video will freeze during gameplay (COD Unified Offensive). Aquamark
3 will also have momentary freezes. Reducing the settings to AA @ None and
Anisotropic Filtering to 4X alleviates the problem.

I was able to run the ATI card at higher settings without problems. I used
Driver Cleaner Pro prior to installing the Nvidia drivers to get rid of any
"leftover" ATI files, registry entries. I know with ATI Omega drivers, it's
recommended that Fastwrites be disabled- does this hold true for Nvidia also
(using latest Forceware drivers from Nvidia website) ?

The rest of the system is:
AMD64 3200+ (754 pin)/Gigabyte K8NNXP
1 GB Mushkin PC3500
2 X WD SATA Raptors (RAID 0), 1 IBM 40GB ATA Deskstar
Revolution 7.1 Audio
Plextor 708A DVD RW
Antec 430W TruPower
Internal Card Reader, Crystalfontz 634 LCD, Firewire card

Not Overclocking- memory timings set at Auto (2-3-3-8). I tried manual
settings of 2.5-3-3-7 and the system wouldn't boot. Voltages at defaults,
except DDR @ +.2

Any ideas on what the problem might be?
I've posted this to the Nvidia newsgroup with no responses.

Thanks,
Fitz

Sent a email to BFG support- got a reply back in an hour. They listed in
detail the "known problem" with Geforce series cards and NForce 3 chipsets.
Also gave me the work-around, but suggested I try disabling FastWrites
first. Worked like a charm- FastWrites off, no freezeups, increased AquaMark
3 score.

This is the first BFG card I've bought, and the first Nvidia since ATI came
out with the 9800 Pro. The warranty and tech support make them worth the
price, and then some!
