Video Inop - No Video

D

To XPE Group:

I have found a sever problem. If we boot our hardware without a monitor
connected, (loose connection, or not at all), we never get video again from
XPE / our hardware. After the initial boot without a monitor, subsequent
boots loose video signal at the point the dark blue screen normally displays
(before the cursor appears). The monitor reports "No Video Signal, Check
cables."

What the #@&%$ has happened?

I can boot F8 and Enable VGA Mode to go in and use a restore point or
uninstall the video driver and reboot to fix it.

Can anyone explain why XPE never uses the video after it fails to detect it
once?

I do not have the headless driver included in my build.

Thanks....have a good holiday weekend.

David,

You may want to check if you got the proper video driver installed. Also,
check if the right Monitor driver is there.
You can verify both drivers under XP Pro running on the same device (does
the problem repro there?).

You can also check SetupAPi.log (better higher the log level, though) after
the boot without the monitor to see if there are any errors there.
