video format changing

how can I change the format of videos? They are all .avi
right now and id like to change them to a smaller vieo
format so I can burn them.
please help

If you want to make VCDs out of them, you will have to re-encode to a VCD
format using some third party software like TMPGEnc.

If you want to save them as just smaller files, import into MovieMaker and
save them as WMV files.
