Hi !

I have Ulead Video Studio 6 SE, but for many reasons, I don't like it

Is there any freeware that could be equivalent ?

TIA

The only real video editing freewares for Windows that I know of
include MovieMaker 2 (the best choice (XP only) and very easy to use
with lots of user support), MovieXOne (if it is still available,
moderate learning curve due to busy interface), and the extremely
user-unfriendly Zwei-Stein (crude and busy interface, it has user help
documents but they didn't help me much).

Others are just splicers:

VirtualDub can splice and apply a lot of special effects filters to
avi files. Somewhat easy to use.

TMPGenc can splice and apply filters to avi and mpeg files. It's also
an outstanding mpeg1 encoder. Moderate learning curve due to
interface, not execution of features.

Avisynth is a video scripting tool that can be used with the AVSgenie
GUI to quickly splice and apply filters to any avi or
DirectShow-compliant video file. Watch out for the learning curve, but
after some reading it's not that difficult. Lots of filters available.

Both VirtualDub and TMPGenc support AviSynth, therefore, they can open
most video files and have a massive amount of special effects filters
at their disposal.
