Video driver will not reinstall

I have somehow lost the driver to my Intel video adapter. I downloaded a
fresh copy of the driver and attempted to reinstall. It gets all the way to
the end of the installation and ends with an "Access Denied" error and does
not complete. This is not a new graphics card. I tried to install it in
Safe Mode as the administrator and got the same error. I tried to install it
from the Device Manager using the install driver button and no change. The
error in Device Manager simply states "No driver installed".

Please advise

Back in Device Manager, right click and select uninstall. Reboot and see if
XP finds a suitable driver it can use. Ensure you downloaded the correct
driver for your specific chipset.

I have attempted to uninstall/reinstall in device manager using a fresh
driver supplied by the Dell support site. I got the same error. I have not
looked at the chipset driver, but I will try. I do not have an error on the
chipset driver and this system was quite stable before this problem
manifested itself. Should I simply uninstall/reinstall the chipset driver?

Yes. There is only one user account on this computer and it is an
administrator account.
