Video driver quits responding thus causing xp to crash.

Here is the deal. Every time I open up windows media player and multiple web
pages at the same time, my computer will beep then crash and restart. The
error message is STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER . I have an
asus p5ad2-e motherboard, xtacy x850 xt pcie video card, 3 GB of ram, running
xp pro. I have allready contacted asus, and visiontek (video card maker). They
have no answers. If I don't open multiple web pages, or don't open multiple
web pages and windows media player, my computer will not crash. Only when I
open both at the same time or multiple web pages does this crash occur. I can
start my computer and go straight to gamming and my computer will never
crash. Visiontek said it may be a problem with 2d not 3d since if never
happens when gamming. I have downloaded and installed all the latest drivers
for the bios, the video card and what the hell ever I could download to try
and fix this problem. Any suggestions.

1st off,dont install the software/drivers from visionteck,get them from
ati(they
made the card).Once ati drivers are installed,if the problem continues,go to
run, type:DXDIAG Run the direct x utility tests. Also, have you installed the
chipset software for the board, get the latest from the chipset mfg web site.
After all that,if still a problem download WMDiag from microsoft.

Thanks for the reply. I left a few things out. I have the latest video driver
from ati and I also have the latest chipset drivers from intel. The direct x
test are ok. Visiontek had me do them. Guess I need to download WMDiag? Where
do I get it and what does it do. Thanks for your help.

Back off the latest drivers.

Latest are rarely the best.

Drop down two revs. or so and try again.
