Video display problems

After doing an installation of XP SP 2 on my friend's e machine T2542, I
can only get a very low resolution display. It doesn't matter which
monitor I use. The results are the same, so even the plug and pray
doesn't work.

Am I wrong in assuming that the display card is still working?

Since it isn't my machine, I feel badly that what should have been an
easy process could go so horribly wrong. What should I do now?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
You need to reinstall the correct drivers for the graphics card. They can
be found at the graphic card manufacturer's website.
