Maybe the following freeware would be worth a try:
(FWIW...it's always a good idea to create a System
Restore point before installing software or updates)
Format Factory

Better yet scan with A/V. Security Essentials says it has a trojan.
May/may not be malovent but, at the least, they aren't being up front about
what you're getting.
