video clips and play settings

Never used video clips before.
When I insert the clip into the slide, then go to Slide
Show, Custom Animation to select "Play Settings" the latter
is not 'available' (all grey, nothing to select). I cannot
therefore get the clip to 'play' and therefore have a
static object!

We probably need to know what version of PowerPoint you are using, so I'll
guess PowerPoint 2000, but first another question. Are you selecting the
video object before you try to tweak the Custom Animaton settings? If not,
the choices will be grayed out.

What kind of video file is it, Glenis?

Oh, and you need to set the file on the first tab to animate
automatically. Then on the Effects tab, set it to have no effect, since
you don't really want it to "fly in" before it plays. But the animate
automatically is necessary before you can get to the play settings for
the video.

It's not terribly intuitive, is it?
