Video Card Power Connection

B

Board_or_Burn

I recently purchased a ATI X1650 Pro (AGP) and went to install it.
The only problem is theat it requires a power cable to be directly
connected to it. I know I need to connect it to the Molex Connectors,
but the connection point on the Video Card is samller than the molex,
I'm guessing I need an adaptor of some sort but I do not know where to
order it from. The connection has four long pins and is only about a
half an inch wide. Any help would be greatlyt appreciated, I hope I
described it well enough it is kinda hard to describe.

Thanks

You probably need to buy a more modern power-supply with the extra
high-current connection for the new AGP board.

Somewhat like people buying new motherboards supporting the newer and
more power-hungry CPUs have to buy new power-supplies with fancy
connectors to supply power more directly to them.

Adapters are common. Get one from your local computer or office supply store.

Must be a really cheap card; mine came with an adapter...

Sounds like a floppy drive power connection. Check all PSU connectors,
many have 2 of these. If you are not using a floppy driv, disconnect both
cables and use the power connector on the video card.

This card uses a floppy connector.

This card uses a Molex connector (nylon box surrounds the four pins).

And this X1650, uses a PCI Express connector ! Talk about crazy.

If you needed a floppy connector, and none was available on the
power supply, one of these adapters might solve the problem.

Sounds like you need a Floppy Berg Connector. Buy a Male Molex to Female
Berg Adapter from your local computer store.Costs a couple bucks.
