video card not detected

For some reason after a reinstall of XP, my video card is
listed as "vgasave" and even trying to use the ATI
installation disk does not work. It fails saying "try to
set up your display adapter with a standard VGA driver
before running setup". I have tried but have had no
luck. Any suggestione are appreciated.

Thanks,
Scott

Scott,
Looks like you need to re-load your AGP drivers.
Check device manager. Most likely you're missing a Display Adapter.
Check System Device and see if you have VIA CPU to AGP Controller listed.
If not then you have to re-install them depending on the chipset you have.
Go here for the drivers

It is correct that I do not have a display adapter listed
and I have the vis "KT333" chipset but I am unable to
find a driver for it on the website you suggested. Can I
use the device manager to uninstall the "VIA CPU to AGP"
listing and see if it will be detected on boot up?

Thanks,
Scott

VIA uses consolidated driver packs for its chipsets. It was called 4in1 now
it is labeled differently. Just returned to Intel after many years so
forget what exactly they are now called. They are definitly on the site the
link pointed you to. They are usually the first driver option for VIA
chipsets.

However, though worth a try I don't think this is your issue. Customarily
the chipset drivers included in XP will serve adequately for the KT333
chipset. It sounds more like driver problems. You might try installing
your drivers under SAFE MODE as an alternative if the new VIA drivers do not
work. Under safe mode make sure you delete any other video drivers that may
be installed!

Good Luck,
Len

unable to find the correct drivers on the site listed so
I looked at changing the drivers under display properties
and the "driver details" button is greyed out. How do I
change the driver whenI cannot see it or get to it?

Thanks,
Scott
