Video capture question...

Hi...trying to capture video from a 8mm analog camera to store on DVD, and am havving a slew of seemingly random problems. A great deal of the videos are of flying, and I get a very jerky, almost double picture. Even the finished product on media player looks the same way, but the viewfinder of the camera is fine. On another tape, I get a large white horizontal bar that randomly appears and cover about 1/3 of the picture. Any ideas as to what could be causing these issues? TIA...

How are you connecting the cam to the pc. Please give specific make and
model numbers of components, like the analogue capture device etc.
