got a new sony vaio with media center, my intent was to copy the vhs to
harddrive, then to dvd.
with no operator's manual for the media center thing's have not been
easy.
to transfer vhs to hardrive, so far, for a 'manual' recording, it
handles the imput as a tv show. if the tape is two hopurs long i have
to find a tv station with a show a least two hours long, or it will
truncate the copy when the scheduled show ends. well having worked
around all my truncated copies my copied vhs tapes now have complete
shows.
i can burn to dvd the copied shows, but the shows are in some type of
ms propietary format. no problem with a simple drag and drop one of
the ms apps converts it to mpeg2. however, the created dvd seems to
put sometype of 'wrapper' around the video file. a 'dir' of the dvd
does not reveal the video file name.
any assistance would be appreciated. i just got this system so i
haven't been able to fully explore all its features.
thanks
