VHS-C to MiniDV the poor`s man way

I have a good amount of VHS-C cassetes that I would like to transfer to
DVD media using a JVC digital video camera (GR-D271) but I have to film
the VHS-C
with the JVC because I do not have an analog capture card. I did some try
outs
filming the display from the VHS-C camera and they came out "OK"..however
I know
there is room from improvement and this is where You (as usually) come to
help.
Shall I film in the dark ? Shal I film from the TV instead of the palm
corder display ? Shall I build a dark box ? Suggestions please...
Thank you all....curita

While I could not find the manual for the 271(so as to make certain) the
270 certainly has the ability to use its analogue connections to record
video. So it may be that you can record via the analogue connection to
your camera. The section of the GR-270 (english) JVC manual was called
'dubbing to or from a VCR'. Using this you can tape from analogue RCA
connections to the tape and then transfer to your PC via firewire.

There was no discussion on what is called pass-thru that would use the
camcorder (without tape) to dub straight to the Firewire port on your
pc....this may however be a feature of yours and an alternative method.

Hope this helps

The 270 can convert analogue to digital (see the .points at the end of
the section) so it may well be that yours can also. If so you have the
option of passing the signals direct to your PC without taping in between.

Check your manual.
