very slow start up of PC

Strange problem that only started since I loaded Microsoft AntiSpy Ware
'Beta' program - which I have now removed.

I'm running XP Home Edition (Service Pac 2)

When starting PC the Dell logo appears then screen is blank for approx 1min
30 secs (small curson blinking in top left corner), then I get the usual
Microsoft XP with blue flashing strip then screen goes blank again for 1min.
Finally I see the page with all the users on and everything is fine. But
something has definintely changed, the PC is taking 'ages' to get to the
log
on screen with the users.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing this and how can I
get my PC back, is their something in the registry which is causing this??
thanks

You could try the LSP fix found throughout these groups - most of the
startup delays in XP are from trying to negotiate some kind of network
connection or network function. Do you have a home network, shared files,
shared printer or wireless connection? Let us know if the LSP fix changes
anything.

Click start > run > type "msconfig" without quotes, > startup (tab). Disable
any unnecessary programs that might be starting up with the system.

If you wish, reinstall back AntiSpyware, restart the computer in safe mode,
do a full scan (on the scan page, click scan options > Full Scan). Also do a
defrag after the scan to reorganize files on your hard disk so they can
start up faster.

Also clean out your temp folder under documents and settings > "your user
name" > local settings > temp. If you do not see the local settings folder,
turn on "show hidden" files under " Tools > Folder Options.
