Very Slow ODBC Connection

I converted MSAccess 97 database to MSAccess 2002 database. I was using
WinNT and now converted to WinXP.
My database is taking a very long time to extract data from ODBC tables
(over one hour).
It used to run pretty quick when I was using Windows NT but now it is just
too slow.
Is there anything that I can do to speed this up? The database just runs
some queries from a third party ODBC table and then brings the data to a
local table.
Please help,
