Very Slow login

I'm not logging into a network, but just as one of four
users. The PC takes over 1 minute to get to the desktop
(after typing in the id/password).

Also, everytime I reboot the computer the folder
C:/WINNT/system32 opens. How do I get this to stop? If I
remove everything from the RUN in the registry, will the
computer still boot up? Please help.
