Yes, that will be one its primary functions, but it will only authenticate
users in the domain context. So, if a user tries to access a domain
resource, he'll have to enter domain credentials to access it. I believe
that as long as this workgroup computer is using the DC for DNS, the DC will
be used to authenticate the user.
