i've been getting all sorts of pop-ups while running
internet explorer. in addition new browser bars would
instll in explorer as well as many other advertising and
reward programs...all without a single prompt. upon
scannin my comp i removed the trojan virus that found it's
way on, as well ran "spybot" a program designed to find
and fix such problems. everything has been fixed except
the last problem that i seemingly cant remove. spybot
lists it as a "DSO exploit". and refers me to the
following website for help:
http://www.greymagic.com/security/advisories/gm001-ie/

i do not understand what it is i can do to fix this
problem...someone please help

It seems that Spybot S&D can give a false positive reporting of a DSO Exploit.

If your copy of IE is up-to-date with all critical patches then you should be
safe. Here's a workaround until the next Spybot S&D update:

1) Open Spybot and select 'advanced' mode.
2) Select 'settings' in the left column.
3) Select 'ignore product' in the left column.
4) Select 'security' tab.
5) Place check mark in box beside DSO Exploit.
6) Close program
7) Open Spybot and run a scan.

To help stop unauthorized downloads via your activex controls change your
default settings.
These settings are good for XP. The wording should be close for other systems
as well.
Go to control panel and open "internet options.
Click on the security tab then custom level.
make sure these settings are as follows.

Download signed active x controls>set to prompt
Download unsigned active x controls>set to disable
Initialize and script active x controls not marked as safe>set to disable
Run active x controls and pluggins>set to enable
Script active x controls marked safe for scripting>set to enable
Java permissions>set to high
Launching programs and files in a IFRAME" > Prompt
Installation of Desktop items"> Prompt
Navigate sub-frames across different domains>prompt
