Select row1

Click Format > Cells > Alignment tab

Under Orientation:

either click inside the "half-clock"
to move the Text pointer to point straight up

or, put/adjust to "Degrees" to read 90

Click OK

Select your range (multiple cells if you want) and then
format|cells|Alignment tab
And look at the orientation stuff.

And if you do this a lot, you may want to add a few text alignment icons to a
customized toolbar.

Tools|customize|Commands Tab|Format category

There's a few icons you can use.
