vertical selection

I have a big summary in text.

All different character are separate by Tab, thus it looks like a table.
Now I would like to select a character (a vertical column in a table).

Is there any way I can select text vertivally separate by Tab in Word.
 
Hold the Alt key and drag the mouse to select the text vertically.
 
Press and hold the Alt key while you drag diagonally across the text you want
to select (the method also works for text without tabs).
