I heard months ago that MS was selling a new version of
XP Home that has SP1 integrated into the OS.

All the boxes that I've seen in the stores still say Version 2002.

Has anyone seen a copy of the new version and, if so, what
does it say on the box?

Why would someone want to get the old version when they
could get the new one and avoid having to download and
install SP1?

Thanks,

David C.

The box does not specify if it is SP 1 or not. The only way to tell. A
volume dealer should have only the SP1 versions at this point.

CD. It will say SP1.

They have been for 9 or 10 months now.

The same thing - version 2002

I haven't bought one without SP1 included since Jan2003, so you are
probably safe, unless you shop at places with real low stock turnover.

I have an xp disk that includes sp1. UNfortunately it does not say that on
the box, only on the disk itself,

I think must copies out do include these but there are no guarantess that
you won't get stuck wwith am old one.
MS takes no chances.

*all* versions say 2002 - even when it came out in 2001.

There is nothing unfortunately on the box to make the distinction, but
the CD inside has 'includes Service Pack 1' on it (on the right)
