I would like to upgrade to Windows XP Professional. I have
two part numbers for the upgrade. One is E85-00087 and the
other is E85-01012. Both are listed for the same price.
What is the difference in these products, other than the
part number? Thanks.

Where are you trying to buy it from? Part numbers usually are spcific to a
store and mean nothing outside of the store. If you're trying to buy the
upgrade off of the Microsoft store website, I find two part #'s.
E85-01011 = Full XP Pro version
E85-01012 = Upgrade XP Pro version.
(not sure where your other number came from)

But just forget part numbers, you want windows xp pro upgrade version.

E85-00087 is Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional English Upgrade North
America CD
E85-01012 is something that according to our part list you may not be
supposed to have access to it appears on my lists as
"Windows XP Professional English North American Internal Upgrade Direct CD"

So both are Windows XP Professional English upgrade CDs.

Who is listing for sale the 1012 disk ??

The two part numbers that I used, E85-00087 and E85-01012
both come from the shop.microsoft.com website. If you go
to the purchase page and then select "Upgrade and Pricing
Details" you end up with the E85-00087 part number. I
already have the E85-00087. I would like to know how it is
different than the E85-01012 that is listed. Should I send
back E85-00087 and have it replaced by E85-01012?

Thanks.

Bob,

It looks like as purplehaz has got from our site (Microsoft online store)
the 1012 is our copy of the Windows XP Professional English North American
Upgrade CD (hence the odd use of Internal in the full internal description
of the SKU#) , and the 087 is a general in the stores Windows XP
Professional English North American Upgrade CD

So get which ever is the best price.

Bob,

There are the same product - one is just the one we would ship to any
distributor for general retail sale (085) the other is the one that we
usually sell on our site (1012) - they are the same product and same bits on
the disks.
