Vcom PowerDesk remains in memory

Multiple copies remain in memory when the program is closed. After 2
times the program won't load. It is necessary to go into Task Manager
and close one of them and sometimes both. This problem seems to be
unique to Windows XP. I have used this program for years with both
Windows 98 and ME with no problems at all. It's not a new problem,
it's been around for at least two years. I contacted VCom and all they
would say was that it happened on some machines. And that's all they
said. So I don't know if it's a VCom problem or a Windows problem.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? And if so was it resolved?
TIA,

Walt

I've been using Powerdesk for longer than I care to admit and haven't seen
that problem, I have a couple of other problems with it but staying in
memory isn't one of them.

Have you tried uninstalling rebooting and reinstalling? Maybe they have a
removal program to wipe it out of the registy too?

Good luck, Rich

It would help if you mentioned the version you are running. I'm running
PowerDesk Pro 6.0.4.2 and have not had the kind of prolem you mentioned.
Actually, I've used PowerDesk for many years and I did not seen that problem
on the earlier versions either.

I'm using 5.0.1.6. But it does the same thing with ver 6 also. I don't
particularly like 6.0, it's more than I need. I have also used
PowerDesk for years and never had a problem until I installed it on my
new XP machine. When I got it I re-installed my old programs to the
new machine and had the problem from day 1. Same programs different
machine. BTW I'm running it on a Dell Dimension E310 with XP Media,
and 1 igb memory. It still work fine on muy old ME machine. As I said
before this problem has been around since at least June of 2004, that
when I found the first mention of it on the net. I do use the free
version, but the problem is also present in the paid version. VCom
seems not to be interested. I even ask them if I would have the same
problem with the paid version. "No Comment". I also asked them to
reccomend a replacement program. Again "No Comment".
