VCD playing

I used to be able to play VCDs no problem,but now I can't.
May be missing a codec??

Possibly.
What player are you trying to use and what codecs do you have?
 
How do I find out what codecs I have? I have windows media player and quick
time player.

Download and install the K-Lite Codec Pack.
Which version is up to you, but if all you are doing is playback - basic
should be fine.
It should come with the GSpot Codec Information application, run it and get
a list of codecs installed through the tools.
