Vanishing Hard Drives

On my XP Pro, three drives have just disappeared, two SATA and one PATA. All
have been working flawlessly over a month with SP2 until two days ago. In
BIOS, DEVICE MANAGER, all five drives show up, but give NO VOLUME LABEL as
they also do in DISK MANAGEMENT, which says: "HEALTHY" (unknown partition).
I have NO access to these three drives. The other two drives function just
fine. I've done SFC /SCANNOW, reinstalled drivers, etc., and NOTHING. No
physical changes were made to the unit prior to the malfunction.

I've seen this same complaint posted elsewhere? Can anyone solve the case
of the missing hard drives???

Thanks,

Bill

Thanks for the comments, however, MSI manufactures MOBOS that support SATA.
That's what I have, the MSI 875P FIS2R which has been performing flawlessly
for 1 1/2 years with 3 WD 10K RPM "Raptor" drives. The current "C" drive is
a "Raptor" and is lightning fast and continues to perform perfectly. The
other two however, have disappeared and cannot be accessed.

This is a software problem but I just can't find it.
