If your OEM system is legitimate, then vendor should have provided you with
a 25-character Windows key. Do you have that or not?

OK, ignore my earlier reply, I think I now understand what you are saying.
When it refused to give you a validation code, what else did it say about
the situation? Did it say what you should do next?
 
I haven't used the new setup yet--in general, if your system fails
validation, the recourse is to go to the OEM involved for help.
