validation hic-up -- no drop-down list!

Help me, oh ye gurus of Excel!

I've made a pretty spiffy little spreadsheet with lots of drop dow
lists; the problem is, they don't drop down anymore.

The lists are a result of data validation. The validation is stil
working (I still get nasty messages if I key in inapropriate data),
just can't get the little arrow in the cell that lets me select fro
the list.

Yes, the "in-cell drop down" button is checked in the validatio
window. There aren't any macros that would override the validatio
function. In earlier revisions of the spreadsheet, the drop-down menu
still work fine. When I try and create new data validation cells, the
don't show the list either.
When I copy/paste cells with the arrow from other spreadsheets, i
keeps the validation, but not the drop-down list.

So...I'm kind of stuck. Anyone know how to fix my poor little sheet

Try this.........

Tools > Options > View tab....Objects > check the "Show all" button

There's a bug in xl97 with data|validation when they're located above any
window|Freeze pane row.

But I've seen some examples that won't make them come back. Recreating the
worksheet is the only way.
