Validation drop down boxes

I have a worksheet set up that has validation cells in
it. The validation references a list in the document.
When the user clicks on a cell, the arrow appears to the
right, they click on the arrow and the drop down box
appears with choices from the list. Wehn the document was
opened today, the drop down boxes do not appear. I have
verified the cells are set up correctly, and that the
manual calculation is turned off. There are no errors in
any of the cells. Do you have any idea why the drop down
boxes disappeared and how I can get them back?

Are objects visible?
Choose Tools>Options, View tab
Under Objects, select Show All or Show Placeholders.

I tried going to tools and looking at the objects and
this had no effect.

The arrows may also disappear in some versions of Excel, if the data
validation cells are in a frozen part of the worksheet.

And some problems with data validation dropdowns can occur when cells
have been merged.

Hi!

It's certainly the case in Excel 97 that the dropdown lists don't wor
if the window/pane is frozen. Excel 2000 doesn't have the sam
problem. I can't vouch for any other versions.

Have you checked if Window>Freeze pane is active?
