Vaio lost keyboard shortcuts for volume, brightness, etc

I just installed Vista on a Sony Vaio VGN-SZ120p. It went ok, but I seem to
have lost the keyboard shortcuts for volume, etc that the notebooks have.

I installed a bunch of XP drivers from sony's site, for this notebook.
Didn't get any warnings from Vista about them, so I assumed they would be ok.

Also, I installed drivers and software for the Vaio camera utility, but I
don't see them in my programs menu.

I have a different VIAO model (desktop VGC-RA101), and the keyboard
shortcuts aren't managed by a driver, but by a program loaded from the RUN
registry key. Possibly this is the case for yours, too.

I have the very same problem with my Vaio. If the utility does not run at
start up is there any way of running it once its booted, so that when i need
to change the tv out i can do so - or is it something thats needs booting..?

AFAIK you can launch it manually, but you need to run it as admin.

Here's the response I got from SONY Canada regarding the brighness and
function keys on a Sony Vaio Laptop with Vista.

---------------

Thank you for contacting Sony Online Support.

Our VAIO computers are designed specifically to work with the Sony OEM
version of Windows with which they originally ship. Sony currently offers no
assistance, device drivers, support or troubleshooting for the installation,
configuration, or hardware compatibility issues for the beta version of
Microsoft's Windows Vista operating system. All technical support for the
pre-release Vista product is handled through Microsoft.

TIP: Microsoft advises all PC owners who plan to upgrade to their
Windows Vista operating system during the beta test "preview"
phase to visit: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista

Once Microsoft has officially released their Windows Vista operating system
for retail sales, if your computer was labeled by Sony with the official
"Windows Vista Capable" logo, Sony may choose to provide limited basic device
drivers for the Windows Vista operating system for your model. Should any
updates be released for use on your model, a Windows Vista support link will
be available on your Model Specific support Website. However, if a Windows
Vista support link is not available, or active on your model specific site,
Sony has not released any updates to support Windows Vista for your model.
