I need a utility that lists AD policies like the Microsoft utility
Gpresult.exe (
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/techinfo/reskit/tools/existing/gpresult-o.asp
) but without the stipulations in the license agreement so that it can
be freely distributed for troubleshooting purposes.

Does someone know of such a utility :?:

Perhaps I would develop a utility like this myself.... Any suggestions
on how to get at the AD information programmatically?

Hi,

What specific info are you looking for? Kixscript is a pretty powerful
tool for pulling data but I am not sure what Data you want.

GPMC lists the Group Policies but I am not sure if that is what you
want.

Cheers,

Lara

Thanks for the quick reply.

I hope to gather a list of any applied GPO’s that might reduce the
rights for any given user.

I think GPMC might do the trick for you. It shows you the OU’s and all
the Group Policies applying to the OU’s. If you click on the
"details" tab of the Group Policy then it shows you the "effective
settings" What I like about this is it shows Only the settings that
are enabled. Before you had to open up each Group Policy and look at
all the settings to find the enabled ones.

I found a "lot" of enabled settings that I didn’t know existed
because they were set by the admin relieving me for holidays. GPMC is
pretty awesome that way. However, it won’t run on Windows 2000 server
but it will run on Windows XP with adminpak.msi installed
administering a Windows 2000 Domain.

Cheers,
Lara
