UT sword arena problem

I Know this question rather old, (darn old actually) but has any one had any problems with Sword arena? because when ever i start a network game my freind that joins says he cant see any swords on the level, yes Sword arena is active on both our computers. same happens to me when he starts a game. any answers to this mystery would be welcomed. (if you bothered reading this) sword arena is active because you see bots carrying nothing but there are no guns, yet it says "Jared was sliced and diced by Drimacas" or other stuff like that. (i miss UT characters)
