Using WMP 10+ with a DVD

I was using WMP 8.0 until a month or two ago. When I updated to 10.0, it
became something of a mystery how to use it all. For example, I have an SVCD
in the drive now, and see no way to play it. The WMP give no clues. All that
can be seen are buttons like Play (nope), Burn, Sync, Now Playing, Music,
Radio, and Video. The last three seem to want to operate some corresponding
sources that are on the internet. How can I play a DVD or CD (video or audio)?

Maximize it by double clicking the blue line at the top > Click Play Menu > Point to
DVD, VCD... > CLick your drive.

To stop this from happening :
Click View > Full Mode Options > Show menu bar

If anything fails:
there is a blue line at the top, you will notice that there is are two arrows
pointing opposite to each other, click that

I don't see a play menu. There's a Now Playing List. Ah, I think you must
mean Now Playing menu. There it goes. IMHO, this is not a good user
interface. I'll play with it some more and maybe I'll get the hang of this
"new look".

One other thing about WMP 10. I tried playing a slide show that I had set up
with Nero 6.0 that allowed 3 seconds per slide. It gunned along at about
1/10 second per slide. Maybe there's another product (Win) that does this?
