Using Terminal Services for a Single App - Very Simple Question

I am new to TS.

I have an organization with 7 locations. They each have their own domain,
which is how we want it for now.

The issue is - they have an application that handles scheduling and other
important functions. This app is installed at each site, and each site has
its own data. It would be very very useful if this app could share the same
data across all locations.

I thought VPN would be the solution. It is far too slow. My next thought
is Terminal Services. However, each location will want to keep their
existing desktop/domain network configuration AS IS.

So my question is - Is there a way that Terminal Services can share a
single app, not the desktop as a whole, across the Internet. Basically,
users could log in to their own domain as usual, and click on the app icon,
which will launch a TS window for the application.

Any ideas?

Sure, that's no problem. Just define your application as the
starting application on the Terminal Server.
As soon as users connect to the TS, your application will start.
When they exit the app, their TS sessions logs off automatically.
They will never see the TS desktop.

So will it look like any other app. I mean, will they keep their same
desktop, and this TS app will look like it was local? I want it like this,
so they can still see their email, etc in the background.

Sort of ..
Real seamless windows is a feature of Citrix.
You can get something like it by defining that the applications
runs in a window that is smaller than the local desktop. This will
make it easier for the user to not loose sight of their local
desktop.
