Using Sysprep for XP deployment

Guest

My company is getting ready to upgrade from 2K Pro to XP Pro & my boss wants
to use sysprep. Does anyone have good step by step instructions for getting a
good sysprep image for deployment? Also how do I go about modifying the image
to accept the drivers for newer model pc's and laptops at the same time?

The best documentation I found is the guidance in BDD 2.5, Read the
Computer Imaging System Feature Team Guide.

BDD 2.5 is a free download from Microsoft.

I have been using Sysprep for 3 years now. The best source for info on
Sysprep is in the CHM (Help Files) that comes with the sysprep tool. To
update your image with newer drivers as new hardware comes along we have
created a folder in the image called c:\drivers\newcomputermodels\Hardware
device in the image and extract the new drivers into the corrisponding
folder. Next edit the HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\CurrentVersion\DevicePath to
point to the c:\drivers \newcomputermodel\hardware. Next make sure you run
Sysprep.exe using the Mini Setup Option.
