using s-video out

my dell inspiron 5160 has an s-video out plug in the back of it. I tried
using it but the picture does not appear on the tv that the other end is
connected to. Is there special drivers or anything i have to do to make it
work, or did walmart sell me another crappy cable, (the first one was
broken!)? I want to hook my computer to the tv, because i dont have a dvd
burner to burn the stuff i have to dvd.

On my tv, I have to go into the channel menu and switch it ti the s-video
channel to use that channel

IS it the whole screen you cannot see or just the video when playing a
movie?
Whole screen you need to go into the graphics card properties and set the
output to tv, or you may have an "F" key toggle switch, check the manual.
If it's just video, try turning down or off the hardware accleration, alos
in properties, but here's a guide.
