Yes! Turn off all printers/scanners/modems before running a "restore" from
the product CDs. Also, disconnect the network cables also. Then after the
restore is completed, activate a firewall on the broadband connection (XP's
is better than nothing). If you do not, you may get hit by a worm virus
like MSBlaster.

Then, do all the Windows XP updates and install the latest drivers.
