Using Outlook for Contacts Only

A

AZGeld

Is there a way to configure Outlook to manage contacts only? I don't use it
for email (I use MSN), and have 2000+ emails that are in the inbox. I think
if I delete them on Outlook, they'll be deleted from MSN? I don't want them
in both places. Help, please!

you can create a no mail profile in outlook. you can either delete the
account from your current profile or make a new profile and cancel the
dialog when it asks for email account information.

Thanks. That sounds fairly easy. When I create a new one and cancel the
dialog when it asks for email account info, then delete the old profile, will
my emails then be deleted from MSN?

Thanks. I've done that successfully. One more question, though: I only
want to see "contacts" when I open Outlook, not Mail, Inbox, etc. How do I
configure that opening screen? I appreciate your help.

In tools, options, other tab, advanced - set contacts as the default opening
folder.

Which version of outlook? You can't remove the other modules, but can hide
them. If 2003/2007, click on the little arrow at the bottom of the nav pane
and remove all the buttons except contacts.

Thanks for your help. Found your most recent answer in an email you sent
that appeared on my phone but not on this thread, for some reason. Anyway,
you answered all my questions, and I think I've backed the files up on a CD
by dragging them (3 files, because I couldn't tell which is the proper one).
In any case, I think that I have them backed up for now (I read an article at
http://www.howto-outlook.com/Howto/backupandrestore.htm). Thanks again!
