Using Outlook 2K away from home

I use Outlook 2K on my laptop with RoadRunner DSL connection. I am away from
home and connected to the internet through MSN dialup (always on). I can
receive my RoadRunner account mail, but am unable to send. How do I setup a
secondary account to send my RoadRunner mail through the MSN ISP?

Sure hope I've described this situation correctly. Thanks for any suggestions!

You will need to contact RoadRunner and ask them about how they would want
you to authenticate in order to use their mail through the MSN SMTP server.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After furious head scratching, LoriM asked:

MSN IS FREE, SO IT MAY NOT WORK WITH TWC. CALL THEM!!

HERE IS THE EXAMPLE AND FOLLOW IT ACCORDINGLY. YOUR PROBLEM WILL BE
RESOLVED. ANOTHER SURE FIRE WAY IT WILL BE RESOLVED IS KEEP CALLING THE ISP
THAT YOU ARE PAYING FOR AND GET A TIER 3 TECHNICIAN:

EXAMPLE OF HOW TO ENTER THE SMTP IN WINDOWS MAIL:

FIRST GO TO ADD ACCOUNT AND THEN....

you will CHANGE the city and/or state to yours:

EX:

smtp-server.___________.rr.com is the SMTP (OUTGOING MAIL)

That probably won't work. As an anti-spam measure RoadRunner usually
has their servers configured to reject mail sent from IP addresses not
on their network - in other words they have relaying disabled.

The usual solution to this problem is to have an e-mail account with
another provider, even a free Gmail account, and set your Send options
when you're travelling to send your outgoing mail thru THAT account,
even though you're receiving mail on the RoadRunner account.

Thanks, Ben. I posted the wrong thread.

She needs to change her Outlook Settings:

Here are the steps:

Select Tools

Go to Account

Go to Mail

Select the Account you want to change

Click properties

Click Servers tab

Check mark the option Authentication

Check the mark next to my outgoing server requires Authentication

Click OK

Enter Username as full email address

She should be able to send mail now.
