gmail/outlook - relaying issues?

Hi -

I'm switching from a roadrunner (my ISP) e-mail address to a gmail address and want to keep using Outlook.

It took a lot of tinkering to get gmail to pop in and out of Outlook and I was originally told by roadrunner that it wasn't possible.

Before I e-mail to ask people to use the gmail address going forward, wondering:

- any issues that people know of with using gmail through outlook with other ISPs? (want to be able to use the gmail address longterm and not have to switch if I change ISPs)

- has anyone run into relaying/returned mail issues using gmail with outlook (roadrunner tech person thought this might be an issue as ISP and address don't match - said that was how spam was often detected and thought some messages sent using gmail via outlook wouldn't reach the recipient).

Thanks very much for your help - much appreciated.

Only relay issues, as far as I can tell.

Just make sure you authenticate to the outgoing server properly.
Personally, I just use the SMTP server of whatever ISP I'm paying, but
specify a gmail address.

Yeah, but that doesn't work when you take your laptop on the road.
If the ISP doesn't offer SMTP on a port other than '25', then you're
better off using Gmail's SMTP server.

I generally use my own ISP's SMTP server then.
