Using NTFS on 2nd Hard Disk for Permissions

We have a small peer-to-peer network and want to give only some users access
to certain folders and files (XP machines using FAT32). Can I add a 2nd Hard
drive to my system, set it up as NTFS and set-up permissions by users? Or do
all PC have to have NTFS to utilize permissions under NTFS?

Thanks

You can set permissions only on a drive that is formatted NTFS.
Adding a second hard drive will not accomplish this. You need
to convert the main drive to NTFS.

As long as the shares are on the second drive (formatted with NTFS) it does
not matter what file system the system drive is using.

Yes that will will work as long as the shares are on the drive formatted
with NTFS.

Carey Frisch,

What if my master drive is FAT32 and my slave drive is NTFS and I only want
to set permissions on the slave drive which will be shared?

Does it matter if PC's on the Network are all FAT32 except my slave drive?

Thanks,
Keith
