Using Monaco Scanner Profiles

I used MonacoEZcolor to create ColorSync profiles for my scanner (for
transparencies) and for my scanner and printer (using the reflective
IT8 target). Question: How can I set these profiles in stand-alone use
of Epson Scan and SilverFast SE? Or, are they only set thru PS? In
other words, do I have to use the scanner applications as plug-ins of
PS in order to set the profiles?

You can scan with whatever you want and then apply the profile in PS or
any other program that lets you apply profiles to an image.

Sorry, I can't help you with SilverFast.

In Epson Scan, as described in the manual, etc., select Professional Mode.
Then select Configuration. Select the Color Mode tab. There you will find
the means to load any profile you wish to use.

Thanks for your help. Another question, since you know something about
Epson Scan, which, BTW, is simple to use: Is there a way of setting
scan resolution, as well as the output resolution ES allows you to set?
Of course, scan resolution can be determined backward. For example, if
output resolution is set at 300 dpi and a scan of a 35-mm has a target
size of 8 x 10, and the resulting image is 2400 x 3000 pixels, then ES
is obviously scanning at about 3000 ppi.

Is there any way of telling ES to scan at a resolution higher than 3000
ppi without having to increase target size to obtain a higher scanning
resolution? My hunch is, you can't. I suppose that you could scan to
produce a higher target size, then in PS, specify an 8 x 10 size to
print at the resulting higher resolution. Somewhat roundabout, but then
simplicity has its complexities. : )

I have never needed to investigate this issue (I have an LS40 for slides),
but I haven't noticed anything.
