Using Mobile Phone Tools to sync with Outlook 2003

I am having some trouble using Mobile Phone Tools 3.1.1 to sync phone
contacts with Outlook 2003. When MPT tries to access the Outlook.pst file
(now named just Outlook, I believe) an error message is returned stating that
the file can not be opened. Thinking that perhaps there was some issue with
my primary contacts file, as it includes data imported from an older version
of Outlook, I tried creating a new database file, with, of course, a
different name. The result is the same...MPT can not open the file.

Is there something that Outlook 2003 could be doing to these files to
prevent them from being opened by another piece of software? The tech support
at MPT says that they have not heard of this problem before.

Thanks in advance if anyone has any insight that will help me.

Do they say it's supposed to work with Ol2003? It has less mapi support and
some tools that worked with older versions (Ol2000) won't work with it.

Are you using a new Unicode or the older ansi pst? It shouldn't matter...
but that would be the main thing that changed between versions.
