Using Microsoft Word in XP

I used to be able to insert a symbol in text by going to
INSERT and clicking on SYMBOLS. However, SYMBOLS is no
longer listed as an option under INSERT. Where did it go?

Is this Word XP or some other version of Word?
(Word is distinctly separate from the OS by the way....)
